Boy, are we happy to finally meet you. It has taken us 7 years to make the first MDBrush toothbrush, and we are beyond thrilled to tell you all about it. So what is so special about this seemingly simple toothbrush that took us about 2,555 days (but who’s counting) to create?
Achieving optimal oral health is not about bells, batteries, whistles, timers, bright colors, vibrations or even sonic speed settings.
It’s about you, what you know, and how you use your toothbrush.
It’s about understanding your mouth like we do—two dental professionals with over 40 years’ experience.
It’s about knowing exactly where to brush to effectively sweep out all the gunky bacteria that contributes to gum disease, bad breath, and dingy looking teeth.
So here’s what you need to know: To remove all that bacteria trapped between your gums and teeth, you need to hold a toothbrush so that the bristles are at a 45-degree angle to the gum line. That’s what they call The Bass Technique in the dental biz. Easy enough said, but most people don’t know to do that in the first place, let alone know how to tell if they are actually doing it properly.
The structural design of the MDBrush makes you THINK about HOW you are brushing your teeth and gums. The ergonomically designed handle fits comfortably in the palm of your hand to ensure that you’re always properly holding the MDBrush so that the patented “W cut” tapered bristles hit the gum line at the dentist-recommended 45 degrees. We even incorporated special indicators that you can look at in the mirror when you are brushing your teeth to make sure you’re doing it correctly. All you really have to do is properly hold the MDBrush and move it over your teeth and gum line using short, back and forth strokes.
As they say, pictures are louder than words. Watch this video that demonstrates why the MDBrush is so simple, yet so brilliant. (This is no time for modesty, right?)
Using the MDBrush may feel a little odd at first, especially if you’ve been a lifelong circle or up/down brusher. However, pay attention to our instructions and give it a few days. Just like trying a new workout, it’s usually the second or third day that people get that ahah! moment. It’s also at that point that you’ll want to tell your friends how your mouth has never felt cleaner.
Some of you may notice bleeding when you first start using the MDBrush. Do not fear—it just means our gum disease-fighting toothbrush is working. The blood comes from areas that have previously been missed by poor brushing and consequently become inflamed. Keep on using the MDBrush and the bleeding will go away as the inflammation goes down.
Bottom line: The MDBrush is an extraordinarily unique toothbrush because it addresses the most common user errors associated with tooth brushing—no batteries required. We want you to brush like us—dedicated dental professionals.
We sincerely hope you enjoy and benefit from your new MDBrush. After you’ve used it a few times, please tell us what you think. We’d love to hear from you and are eager to answer any of your questions.
